In recognition of her performance, she won the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Film/Miniseries, and also received Best Actress nominations at the Emmy Awards and for the Golden Globes. The same year, it was revealed that Tolman will have a guest role on the Mindy Project on the show as Abby Berman who is a romance writer. She had a role as the support character in Michael Douglas' movie about horror Krampus. Tolman turned down several roles in supporting characters such as best friends, parents, spouses and even husbands after her first big role on Fargo. She was looking for a unique role. Tolman's role on ABC Downward Dog was based on her role in the Animal Media Group Web Series. After one season, it was canceled. Tolman was a star in the drama show Emergence which premiered on September 24, 2019. The show was canceled on May 21, 2020, after only one season despite "pretty solid" viewership, according to Tolman. Her guest appearances for NBC Good Girls were also listed as a source.
